Where: The Astronomy Tower
When: Sunday Evening
What: The boys came to sing for An Li as promised, although it didn't work out as planned.
The Astronomy Tower is chilly as An Li wraps her jumper tighter around her shoulders. She's peering into her telescope that is charmed to focus directly on Jupiter. Sitting on the ground next to the telescope's tripod is a box of chocolate frogs and cookies.
Sid shrugs the strap of his guitar back up onto his shoulder, standing near the entrance of the Astronomy Tower. He glances down at the parchment in his hand, reading over the song titles he'd jotted down. Soon as Anthony got there, they'd head on up.
Anthony reaches the Astronomy Tower not long after Sid. He's a bit late from having run into Filch along the way. "Only I could manage to annoy Filch by apologizing for almost running into him," he says with a laugh.
An Li hears some footsteps near the entrance of the tower and walks over, opening the door. She leans against the doorframe, smiling as she says, "Well, looks like I have company for the night."
Patting Anthony on the back with a laugh at that, he flashes a grin up to An Li. "I never break a date, love!" He heads in with a slightly comedic bow as he passes the lady at the door, and starts preparing his guitar.
"Every musician needs the proper backup... even if all they do is hold the music and add occasional harmony bits." Anthony grins and steps inside, waiting for An Li before closing the door. "Besides you'd be awfully lonely up here alone and we can't have that."
An Li smiles, shaking her head as she walks back over to her telescope, picking a piece of parchment up off of the ground. As she pulls out her self-inking quill, she looks back down into the telescope and jots down some notes. "So what do you guys plan to serenade me with?"
Sid strums the guitar once, then pulls out the parchment again. "Well, I've got a nice mix of Bowie and Bolan." He grins and shows the list to Anthony for approval, starting with "Bowie - Soul Love," and shrugs. "Tried to stick with 'love' songs."
He reads over the list with a smile. Anthony had almost every song on the list memorized from hearing them being played in Gryffindor Tower whenever possible.
An Li lifts her head up from the telescope and reaches down into the box of cookies, lifting one up. "Hmm, well, I do love love songs. Cookies?" she pokes the box of cookies with her foot, nudging it towards them.
Laughing, Sid glances down to the box. "Not before I sing. I do, however, love the incentive." He finishes tuning his guitar, although it sounded pretty much tuned before, and looks to Anthony. "Ready?"
"Ready." He pushes away from the wall he'd been leaning on while waiting. Anthony flashes a grin at An Li. "We'll make a glam lover out of you before long."
"Haha, I'm waiting to see you try," she says winking. She sits down opposite of them, her back leaning up against the wall as she munches on a cookie.
Sid laughs and grins. "I love a challenge, dearest." With a slight sigh he glanced at the song titles and nodded before starting to play. Performance was most definitely his most comfortable element. "Stone love - she kneels before the grave/A brave son - who gave his life to see the slogan/That hovers between the headstone and her eyes/For they penetrate her grieving."
Anthony wasn't quite as comfortable performing as Sid, but he loved the music almost as much as he liked singing. Closing his eyes for a second he started singing along.
Closes her eyes and listens intently to the sounds of the music and their voices. She starts to slowly nod off.
"New love - a boy and girl are talking/New words - that only they can share in/New words - a love so strong it tears th..." Fairly lost in the music, Sid practically jumps out of his skin when the muffled sounds of angry cursing from outside is joined by the door slamming open, to an all too familiar, equally angry face.
She jerks awake and looks around. "Do what now? Huh?"
Anthony looks up just in time to see Filch appear in the doorway, ranting about excessive noise. "Oh, not again."
"Mm. Well, I think that's our cue to leave, lads." She grabs her telescope and candy and slips past Filch. "Come on now!" She yells back behind her as she runs down the stairs, two steps at a time.
Sid grabs what he'd brought himself and slips out with slight grin and shrug to Filch, who merely glared at him. He tries not to laugh until he's out of the man's earshot. "Well, that was short-lived yet entertaining."
Anthony can't help laughing once they're away from Filch and headed back to Gryffindor Tower. "Maybe it's the staff we should be trying to convert instead of our fellow students."
Snickering, Sid nods his agreement. "Once we've got the staff on our side the students will soon follow." He glances back over his shoulder with a chuckle. "Although, I don't think I'd want to see Filch in flares and kohl."
Anthony groans and rolls his eyes. "I'm never going to get that picture out of my head now. Every time I pass him in the halls, I'm going to see that." He laughs, giving the password as the reach the portrait hole and ducks inside. "Almost makes me wish Sirius was around to sing just for the distraction."
Sid's laughter redoubles at that. "Just think of it like you would a nightmare. Eventually the image should fade." He shakes his head starting towards the sixth year dorm. "Well, guess we'll try again some other time. See you later."
"Yeah, see you later." Anthony continues to his own dorm and disappears inside.
